Exit Ramp & Road Closure Information

I-55, I-80, Route 53 (Chicago Street) all affected

As of April 24, major traffic patterns and key roads to reach Dirt Oval 66 are under construction and/or closed due to the I-80 reconstruction and Des Plaines River bridge rebuild within Will County. As part of a long-term Illinois Department of Transportation project, several ramps at the I-80 and Chicago Street/U.S. 52/Illinois 53 interchange are closed.

Fans should allow extra travel time, pay close attention to posted signs and follow official detour routes when traveling to and from the event. For closure diagrams, detour maps and the latest project updates, visit the official IDOT website: I-80 | Will County Traffic Alerts

Critical points:
– Westbound I-80 cannot exit at Chicago Street.
– Eastbound I-80 CAN exist at Chicago Street.
– Both directions of Chicago Street can use Westbound I-80 ON ramp.

Out further West, the I-80 Eastbound ramp from I-55 South remains closed until late 2026. If traveling from the Northwest, consider Route 30 or Route 6 as alternatives.

Plan ahead! Local roads, especially South of the track (Arsenal Road / Manhattan Road) are low-traffic alternatives to reach northbound Round 53.

All vehicles use Gate 13 off of Schweitzer Road to access the Dirt Oval 66 parking lot.

Closures and detours will remain active through sometime in 2028, per IDOT.
