TORC: The OffRoad Championship returns to Chicago

Tickets are on sale now for Chicagoland Slam June 1011

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (May 13, 2016) – The premier shortcourse offroad truck racing series returns to the Chicago area June 1011 for Chicagoland Slam, the second doubleheader stop on the 2016 TORC: The OffRoad Championship calendar.

The Dirt Oval at Route 66 Raceway will see championship trucks in three pro classes tackle a custombuilt course. The series transforms the halfmile Dirt Oval at Route 66 into a challenging shortcourse offroad truck racing course that includes jumps, whoops and banked turns.

“Chicagoland is traditionally a big action stop on the calendar,” said Ben Nelson, series director. “Racing has been really strong there in the past few years and we can’t wait to return this June.”

The Chicagoland doubleheader will feature pro racing in three classes: the powerful, fourwheel drive PRO 4WD trucks, the 900 horsepower rearwheel drive PRO 2WD machines, and the fiercely competitive Atturo Tires PRO Lights.

They will be joined by amateur drivers from Midwest OffRoad Racing’s Sportsman classes. All drivers will compete for points both Friday and Saturday, making for two action packed days of competition.

The pits are open to all ages, giving race fans the opportunity to get up close to the PRO 4WD, PRO 2WD and Atturo Tires PRO Light machines and meet the drivers. A postrace track walk invites fans onto the dirt. Gates open both days at 1 p.m.

“This is the only race on our calendar that invites fans to get so close to the teams in the pits, and the ontrack action this series offers is like nothing else,” said Sherri Heckenast, president of Dirt Oval 66. “It’s like bringing the desert to the Midwest. The track is transformed with jumps and bumps and banked turns and you get trucks jumping and flying. You don’t want to miss it.”

Twoday tickets for the Chicagoland Slam doubleheader start at $25 for adults and $8 for kids. Tickets are on sale now at
