TORC: The Off-Road Championship presented by AMSOIL returns to Chicago

Championship truck racing resumes June 10-11 on the Dirt Oval at Route 66

JOLIET, Illinois (June 9, 2016) – The high-flying truck racing action of TORC: The Off-Road Championship presented by AMSOIL makes its annual visit to the Chicago area this Friday and Saturday for Chicagoland Slam — the second doubleheader stop on the 2016 national championship calendar.

“Our type of truck racing is like nothing else,” said Ben Nelson, series director. “We’re bringing out the best drivers on dirt for huge jumps, close competition, and an evening of fender bashing, non-stop action the whole family can enjoy.”

The Chicagoland doubleheader will feature pro racing in three classes: the powerful, four-wheel drive PRO 4WD trucks, the 900 horsepower rear-wheel drive PRO 2WD machines, and the fiercely competitive Atturo Tire PRO Lights.

In the top PRO 4WD class, longtime rivals Johnny Greaves and Chad Hord are tied in the points heading into Rounds 3 and 4. Keegan Kincaid leads the PRO 2WD standings, while Kyle Hart tops the Atturo Tire PRO Light class.

The series has trucked in hundreds of loads of dirt to transform the Dirt Oval at Route 66 Raceway into a purpose-built truck racing course that includes huge jumps, whoops and banked turns.

In addition to TORC Series pros, amateur drivers from Midwest Off-Road Racing’s Sportsman classes will also compete at the Chicagoland Slam. All drivers will compete for points both Friday and Saturday, making for two action packed days.

The pits are open to all ages, giving race fans the opportunity to get up close to the PRO 4WD, PRO 2WD and Atturo Tire PRO Light machines and meet the drivers. A post-race track walk invites fans onto the dirt. Gates open both days at 1 p.m. for racing from Sportsman classes, with opening ceremonies for PRO racing at 7:30 p.m.

“This is the only race on our calendar that invites fans to get so close to the teams in the pits, and the on-track action this series offers is like nothing else,” said Sherri Heckenast, president of Dirt Oval 66. “It’s like bringing the desert to the Midwest. The track is transformed with jumps and bumps and banked turns and you get trucks jumping and flying. You don’t want to miss it.”

Equipment for Chicagoland Slam is provided by Patten CAT.

Two-day tickets for the Chicagoland Slam doubleheader start at $30 for adults and $8 for kids. Tickets are on sale now at www.torcseries.com/tickets or at the gate.

The TORC Series is where action sport and motorsport collide. The high-flying action visits Joliet, Illinois, June 10 and 11 for Rounds 3 and 4: Chicagoland Slam.
